In the jungles of Africa and South America and elsewhere cannibalism has occurred for thousands of years.  Some recent studies show that even in the U.S. some Native American tribes have practiced this dark habit.  But in the present day U.S. where we are educated (we think) and advanced enough to be world leaders and have an international space station orbiting the planet, do we dine on each other?
Well how about wall street executives raiding pension funds for hundreds of millions of dollars for their extravagant bonuses?  D.C. Politicians lying for votes then doing anything (or nothing) in office?  Gridlock up there because the parties are determined to be anything but bi-partisan. (Our system was designed for compromise.)  A court system not concerned as much with truth & justice as with personal power, and job security for very expensive lawyers & judges & jail systems, (which are jam packed – my cousin recently got 34 years for an offense reason called for maybe 5 years.)  How about our professional gossip system media which focuses mainly on sensational and or liberal stories, and jumps on issues that scandalize (and eats) the church.  Then we have a medical system that is so expensive that it practically owns (and eats) all of us.  The massive wave of greed (which causes inflation), in ALL sectors the last 6 or 8 years says only negative things of our human nature.  “And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of” - family feuding, domestic abuse, unfriendly neighborhoods, scam artists, dope pushers & pimping, a predacious alcohol industry, predacious credit industry, predacious taxation, road rage incidents, various kinds of sharks, etc., etc...      See link  #24  “Who Can You Trust”.
Can any nation survive without teamwork and love and mutual respect among its people?  I recently heard a Mexican national immigrant say he was leaving this country due to the corruption here . . .     When I was a boy some 50 years ago in Phoenix, Arizona there was a scriptural reference on television at the close of the day's broadcast -  Psalm 33:12    “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.”  They don't seem to broadcast that anymore – it's not politically correct.  Neither are Biblical references & plaques in court rooms or on municipal buildings.  Have we become a godless “nation of cannibals” where dog eat dog is the right way to live, or are we just a dying country?  Either way it's not good . . .
We need a revival of religious values if we hope to survive much longer.  The late (great?) Michael Jackson had these lyrics in one of his early songs -  “we must bring salvation back.”  He was right if we expect to turn things around and cause the “cannibalism” to cease.  Second Chronicle 7:14 says “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”  Wise advice some 3 thousand years ago but still valid today.  Now any national revival has to start with the individual.  Are YOU saved??  If not why not??  Salvation is free – Jesus has already been offered for your sin and mine.  We only need to reach out and take hold of the provisions God has in place for us.     Revelation 3:20  “Behold, I stand at the door and knock, if any one hears my voice and opens the door I will come in to him and eat with him and he with me.”    Acts 4:12  “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (See also link #28  “What's In It For Me.”)     Choose Jesus and his salvation package.  Do your part to stop the “cannibalism”.  Consider involvement in a Bible believing church & support it.
